What data do we collect?

HipTraveler, Inc. collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information - Name, e-mail address, profile photo, and hometown.
  • Preference information - (to help us personalize your experience including itinerary results and automatic itineraries). Your favorites, created itineraries, people you follow, and saves help us to personalize your experience on the site and to easily plan new itineraries.
How do we collect your data?

You directly provide HipTraveler, Inc. with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  1. Register online and build your profile.
  2. Use or view our web site via your browser’s cookies. (More on Cookies later.)
  3. Via Log Data - When you use HipTraveler, our servers automatically record information about your interaction with our products ("log data"), including information that your browser sends whenever you visit a web site or your mobile app sends when you use it to access HipTraveler. This log data may include your Internet Protocol address, the address of the web page you were visiting before you came to HipTraveler, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, and how you used HipTraveler.

  1. Facebook, Twitter, and Google - HipTraveler provides simple login & registration through these services. When you choose to use one of these services, they share back with us the above mentioned personal identification information.
How will we use your data?

HipTraveler, Inc. collects your data so that we can:

  • We use the information we collect to provide our products to you and make them better, develop new products, and protect HipTraveler and our users. For example, we may log how often people use two different versions of a product, which can help us understand which version is better.
  • We also use the information we collect to offer you customized content -- including helping you discover destinations and itineraries you might like. For example, if you've indicated that you're interested in Adventure Travel, we may suggest Adventure Travel related destinations, itineraries, hotels, tours, sights to see, etc..
  • If you have Opted In to receive offers, we will email you with special offers on products and services we think you might like.
  • Your data is also used to facilitate our messaging features so that you may message your followers and receive messages from your followers.
  • Your data is also used to send you notifications when others favorite your itineraries or begin following you.
  • Your Profile name, picture, social profiles (if you’ve added), itineraries, blogs, favorites, followers, your About section (if you’ve completed), and your Places I’ve Been pins are shared publicly on our web site under your Profile page.
  • We may engage in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, or similar transaction or proceeding that involves the transfer of the information described in this Policy. In this case, your data could be transferred to another party.
How do we store your data?

HipTraveler, Inc. will keep your data for an indefinite amount of time unless you opt to deactivate your account. Once deactivated, we will delete your data within a one month period

Marketing

HipTraveler, Inc. would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like, as well as those of our partner companies.

Only HipTraveler will receive this information unless we explicitly present you with an Opt In request from another partner.

If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.

You have the right at any time to stop HipTraveler, Inc. from contacting you for marketing purposes.
